A sadhu was reading aloud before Swamishri an article entitled "Yogiji Maharaj Bhavna Bheru" (Yogiji Maharaj - a companion in life) from the Sanstha's Gujarati monthly "Swaminarayan
Prakash." Swamishri looked at a youth named Mitesh, who was sitting at the back of the room, and asked, "Do you know what 'Bheru' means?" Mitesh, born and brought up in England, knew very little Gujarati, so he replied, "No, I don't know what it means."
A sadhu explained, "It means friend and companion."
Hearing this, Swamishri added, "Not just a companion but a lifelong companion."
We all have friends. But our friends like us less when they see our flaws. They tend to drift away. But in Swamishri, we have a unique friend. Despite our drawbacks, he still loves us and forgives us. He has promised to stand by us and guide us all the way, all the time.
He is our lifelong companion.
